              Grand Canal Palace

This incredibile palace was built at the end of the 16th century by the pupils of Renaissance architect Jacop Sansovino. The future Pope Clement XIII was born in this palazzo in 1693. The palace is over 4,000 square feet, with 20 foot ceilings and has the utmost breathtaking views you could possibly ask for in Venice, directly overlooking the Grand Canal from its prestigeous floor, the piano Nobile. The windows overlooking the Grand Canal are enormous and stretch from floor to ceiling and boast a viewing terrace from each one. This palace is a very special and rare home in Venice and has been captured in several important magazines and articles regarding this historical home. The incredible living room and entrance foyer are extremely grand and offer incredibly high ceilings with frescos and stucco reliefs, a fireplace, exceptional views, plenty of seating for a large family with 19th century Venetian furniture. The kitchen is a galley style smaller kitchen with dishwasher, refridgerator and all pots and pans etc. The dining room is ideal for a family of 6 to 8 persons and has plenty of table settings for this purpose. This apartment is located in the exclusive neighbourhood of San Marco, an area located in the very heart of the old town in which the most important noble families in Venice live.
Piazza San Marco is probably the best known spot in town, and it is so important amongst locals that it is said that everyone who lives in Venice passes beyond San Marco at least once a day.   Cycling champions on the runway in Lido, for the chronometer that on the 9th May starts the Centenary Giro d’Italia.Saturday 9th May is the day when the athletes release all their energies onto the pedals riding the circuit through the streets of Lido, 21 kilometers to Malamocco and back, with a little piece of history up for grabs. And pride. The start of the Centenary Giro d’Italia from the lagoon island forms an example under the amateur profile and, as the Mayor of Venice Massimo Cacciari has underlined represents for Venice ‘the opportunity to offer to Italy and the world an unusual aspect, vivacious and vital’. The Giro d’Italia also opens up the tourist season on the Venetian coast: the celebrations on Lido on the 10th May are followed by another appointment in the Veneto, with the start of the stage of Lido di Jesolo - Trieste.Looking through the records of the pink race, Venice has hosted, before 2009, only eight times an arrival and seven times a start of a stage. Races significantly under the symbolic profile, often beyond their amateur content. This is why the decision to start the Centenary Giro in Venice is particularly important and is eagerly awaited by thousands of fans along the route. The first time the ‘caravan’ came to Venice was in 1936: on the 2nd June, for the sixteenth stage, and a chronometer of 30,5 kilometers was programmed from Padua to Venice. Love 2009 - New Year’s Eve in Venice

Venice is one of Italy’s most romantic cities so it’s fitting that they will ring in the new year with a giant group kiss in St. Mark’s Square. According to Love 2008, the new year of 2008 will be the new year of love. Thousands of kissers plan to gather in Piazza San Marco starting at 10:00 pm to start the new year with a gesture of love and peace. They’ll also toast with glasses of bellini, the sparkling wine and peach juice cocktail made famous in Venice.
